Topic Details

Synesthesia is the production of a sense impression relating to one sense or part of the body by stimulation of another sense or part of the body. This video explains the definition very well. Click here. Kandinsky, a Russian artist who produced famous works during the early part of the 1900's, said "The artist must train not only his eye but also his soul". Kandinsky explored the topic of synesthesia at great lengths and created amazing works of art showing the viewer what music sounds like. Take a look at his work below.

Event Details

Like Kandinsky, you too can explore the fascinating topic of Synesthesia for yourself. We will provide you with a canvas and the painting supplies. Feel free to bring your own wine or beverages and the snacks are on us. Leading the painting session is a member of our Artist Development Program, Mike, He will get you feeling comfortable with the idea of free expression. There are no rules and no subjects that must be painted. Just paint what you feel when listening to the music being played in the space. Two other members of our Artist Development Program will be creating the music for the evening, masterminds Peter, a music therapist, and Liam, a music engineer. After the session of self expression through painting, we have an art therapist who will review your works of art and give you some feedback about the inner you based on what is observed in your work. Don't worry, you don't have to be an artist or even know how to paint. Anyone can participate so look at it as a night with good friends, wine, great music and art. Take home an original piece of art and a little more knowledge of who you are inside.
